Folklore is an album about fantasy and tales of romance. This album was written during the pandemic of 2020 when we were all in lock-down. Taylor Swift used this album as her “escape” from reality. She makes up these characters and creates a story of romance and young love. The album is very whimsical, simplistic, and soft. She also talks about “wisteria” which refers back to her time visiting England, where she went to the Poets District. The Poets District is this cottage that had wisteria growing all over it where all these great poets collectively gathered to just write. She talks about this vision of living in this cottage with wisteria, and basically being able to escape all the noise of the real world and live out her passion of writing songs. I really liked this reference as I too would love to just whisk away into a cottage and be able to just create art all the time without any distractions.
Listening to this album feels like a reading your favorite book or watching your favorite movie. It takes you away into another world and gives these cozy vibes on a rainy day.
Along with the wisteria, I incorporated her cover art of Folklore along with her outfit from this particular Era which is also very earthy and whimsical in itself.
